About Us

Gaither High School is a public high school located in the Northdale area of Hillsborough County, Florida. It opened in 1984 and is located on 16200 North Dale Mabry Highway. Bloomingdale High School, located in Valrico, Florida, was built around the same time and has the same architectural design.

The school serves the communities of Northdale, Carrollwood Village, Lake Magdalene and other parts of northern Hillsborough County, such as Avila, and parts of southern Lutz.


Rivals

The school's most historical rival is Chamberlain High School, however Sickles High School became a prominent rival school for the Cowboys when it opened in 1997 . Contemporarily, the school's most modern and primary rival is Steinbrenner High School, established in 2009. Students from Ben Hill and Buchanan Middle School make up the majority of the population of Gaither students, however there are also many students from Martinez, Adams, and Walker Middle Schools.

2022Eugene "Tre" Wilson III, Gaither

WR 6'0" 190  emerged as one of the top wide receivers in the region, garnering 1st team All-Suncoast, 1st team All-County, and 1st team All-Conference honors. A dynamic player, Tre set new school records for receiving yards in a season with 1,310 yards and touchdowns with 18. His exceptional play was crucial in leading Gaither to the regional playoffs. Over his high school career, Tre accumulated over 2,500 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns. Known for his academic diligence as well as his athletic prowess, he secured a football scholarship to the University of Florida. 


2000 – Lydell Ross, Gaither

RB 6’1″ 215 Super Prep All American, 2x 1st All Suncoast, 2x 1st All County, 2x 1st All Conference, 2x 1st All State. Led Gaither to back to back playoff appearances. Set regular season rushing record with 2,196 yards and the single season record (including playoffs) 2,744. Finished his high school career with 5,166 yards and 49 TDs. Signed a football scholarship with Ohio State University


1987 – Terry Jordan, Gaither

QB 6’1″ 175 1st team All Suncoast,1st team All Conference,1st team All County,3rd team All State. The Nephew of 70’s Dallas Cowboy star LB Lee Roy Jordan. The 3 year starter led Gaither to the first District Title in school history in 1985 and to the Meninak Bowl in 1987. As a senior he led the Suncoast area in passing yards with 1,440 along with 12 TDs. He finished his prep career with 3,079 yards and 19 TDs. An honor student he signed a football scholarship to North Carolina State.
